Vietnamese, Angolan Foreign Ministers hold talks in Ha Noi
VGP - Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung held talks with visiting Angolan Minister of External Relations Téte António in Ha Noi on June 4, during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their longstanding friendship and expanding bilateral cooperation.

Le congratulated Angola on its recent achievements, particularly efforts to diversify its economy, improve living standards, and successfully assume the chairmanship of the African Union (AU) in 2025.
The Vietnamese foreign minister briefed his counterpart on Viet Nam's socio-economic development after four decades of Doi Moi (Renewal) and the country's foreign policy orientations adopted the 14th National Party Congress .
Amid a rapidly evolving international landscape and Viet Nam's growing global profile, Le reaffirmed that Viet Nam highly values its traditional friendship, solidarity and fraternal ties with Angola.
He suggested the two sides enhance political trust through high-level exchanges and maintain existing cooperation mechanisms, including the Viet Nam–Angola Intergovernmental Committee and political consultations between the two foreign ministries.
Le also called on the foreign ministries of both countries to play a more active role in connecting relevant agencies and sectors to improve the effectiveness and diversity of cooperation in priority areas such as energy, agriculture, education, healthcare, science and technology, and mining.
He encouraged Angola to facilitate the participation of Vietnamese enterprises in oil, gas and energy projects, while promoting South-South agricultural cooperation through bilateral, trilateral and quadrilateral mechanisms, as well as public-private partnerships. He also stressed the importance of continued cooperation in education, healthcare, science and technology.
The Vietnamese minister urged the Angolan Government to continue ensuring the safety and security of Vietnamese businesses and the Vietnamese community in Angola, enabling them to operate and contribute to the development of both countries.

For his part, António conveyed greetings from Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and State President To Lam, and thanked Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Minister Trung for their warm hospitality.
António praised Viet Nam's remarkable socio-economic achievements and expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Vietnamese Government and people during Angola's struggle for independence and throughout the country's difficult post-independence period.
Reaffirming Angola's strong commitment to relations with Viet Nam, he expressed hope that Viet Nam would continue accompanying Angola in its next stage of development.
Highlighting Angola's ongoing economic reforms, António said the Angolan government is working to diversify the economy, improve the investment climate, modernize agriculture, and encourage Vietnamese businesses to explore investment and business opportunities in the country.
He pledged to direct the Angolan Ministry of External Relations to work closely with relevant agencies of both sides to advance cooperation projects, particularly in agriculture, and to facilitate the long-term and stable operation of Vietnamese enterprises in Angola.
The two ministers agreed to accelerate negotiations and work toward signing key legal agreements in 2026, including an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation and another on investment promotion and protection, to create a more stable framework for economic cooperation and safeguard the legitimate interests of businesses.
Exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, the two sides pledged to maintain close coordination and mutual support at regional and multilateral forums, while strengthening practical cooperation between regional organizations, including African Union and Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
They also agreed to work together in addressing non-traditional security challenges and transnational crime, contributing to peace, stability and sustainable development in their respective regions and beyond./.
